Our Amazon Headquarters
On the left is Rene (our production chief) & Tomas (pres. jungle-gems), posing in front of the wash hose. Note that we have to wear long-sleeved shirts, in the hot humid weather, because the millions of aggressive mosquitos. The center photos is Rene with Jeff, one of the owners of our company. The right side photo shows Rene & Jeff with Dr. Hugo, our Brasilian geologist associate. This last photo shows the end of the road, which was the nearest point accessible by vehicle to the opal mine until we completed the road.
These 2 photos were taken after the site had been shut down for a period late 2000.
The left photo shows our cook in the kitchen. Note the mud cooking stove. If you look closely in the bottom center of the center photo, you can see Rene taking pictures, and get a sense of the tremendous size of the Amazon's heights. The right photo shows the Rio Macadinha, an upstream tributary to The Amazon River, where we play at the beach. |
